Summer Camp at Neringa is Back! Valio!
After a lot of hard work and careful planning, we are planning to resume on-site camps at Neringa this summer! Camp will look different this year to comply with COVID-19 regulations, but it will be the same creative, meaningful, and fun Neringa – at a time when we need it most!
Registration is set to open April 12.
We have a thorough plan in place to follow guidelines and keep everyone as safe as possible. There will be smaller numbers of campers in each one-week session while allowing as many kids to camp as possible. The safety plans will be provided with registration materials.
We will be hosting informational Zoom meetings prior to registration to review the safety plans. You can RSVP using this form: Informational Meeting Please share any questions in advance.
Neringa receives its largest ever donation! Ačiū Ann and Joe Simanis!
Alumni Ann Simanis Weiss and brother Joe Simanis, together with their spouses, have made an enormously generous gift of $200,000 in memory of their Aunt Helen. The gift will create the Helen Simanis Fund, an endowment fund to foster the Catholic aspect of our mission.
“Our Aunt Helen was dedicated to both her Faith and her Lithuanian heritage. In fact, when we were children, it was she who suggested that we attend Neringa. I recall our first visit to the camp, the summer before we started attending, and seeing her walk through the outdoor birch chapel, with wobbly benches a slightly lop-sided altar. In her travels, she visited holy places all over the world but I imagine that she would say that peaceful spot in the woods was one of the most beautiful chapels she had ever seen. So, we could not think of a better way to honor her memory than to make a gift to Neringa. Knowing that the Neringa100 Campaign was a huge success, we wanted to make a gift that would mark the next chapter in Neringa’s history. That was why we choose to make an endowment gift to establish the Helen Simanis Fund and create a permanent income stream to foster the Catholic mission of Neringa.
The Helen Simanis Fund will be our Aunt’s legacy but we encourage all members of the Neringa family to think about a legacy gift. Whether it’s honoring a loved one or commemorating your years as a camper, a bequest is a simple way to make a gift that will help ensure the future of Neringa for generations to come.”
